The story of Mowgli, affectionally known as Sunflower, was one that immediately touched the artist and inspired this deconstructed fusion piece.
Mowgli was born with severe metabolic bone disease and multitude of complications resulting from this condition. With daily physical therapy he was able to walk and climb comfortably and confidently but sadly his owner and life long carer was never able to realise her greatest hope from Mowgli - to be able to fly.
REK chose to return to his signature deconstruction style of 2018 leaving Mowgli unfinished to represent the flight he wasn't able to make. Although he missed out on flying, Mowgli was blessed to have had 2 years on Earth and he looks up to the skies and smiles surrounded by golden botanicals.
