From the collection of petit works in the exhibition - One of the first birds the artist painted - Flappy the red tailed cockatoo is reborn as Christ himself in the ancient Icon style of late antiquity.
 
Plaudens Avis Christus - or Flapping bird christ translated from latin - is work is set against the glint of gold and regal blue.  Prized due to its rarity at this time was the pigment used to create Blue, in particular ultramarine.  This colour was used only to represent royalty and god or christ.
